About Susan

Susan Calloway is an award winning recording artist, international performer, and multi- instrumentalist who is now bringing her 20 plus years of experience into an instructional setting.  A classically trained vocalist and pianist, Susan graduated with honors with a degree in music from Oakland University, where she received a full music scholarship.  By her 21st birthday, she had already written over 60 songs and had toured extensively thru out the US as a recording artist. She went on to receive 7 different Detroit Music Awards and has released 3 CD Projects to date.  After several song features on Dawson's Creek, Summerland, and One Tree Hill, Her first single " Chasing the Sun" rose to #38 on AAA Radio.  Her most recent single, " Time for This" was awarded Best single by The LA Music Critics.  She has shared the stage with legendary artists such as Lyle Lovett, The Gin Blossoms, Paula Cole, Patti Griffith, and Daniel Lanois, Legendary producer for U2 and Peter Gabriel.

No stranger to the recording studio, Susan is an experienced SAG performer, a highly sought after session singer, voice actress, and vocal arranger. Her voice has been featured on over 100 National & International advertising campaigns to date and her music featured in numerous films and TV shows. Additionally, she has her own music production company that continues to write, produce, and score music for avast array of clients including record labels, TV Networks, and Advertising Agencies.

As her professional reputation grew, Susan’s voice caught the attention of renowned Japanese composer, Nobuo Uematsu. He hired her to sing for the popular video game, Final Fantasy XIV, performing 3 major theme songs for the 30 million selling franchise. She was also the featured soloist for  Distant Worlds: Final Fantasy World Concert Tour for over 10 years, performing on stage with a live orchestra in some of the largest concert halls in the world: The Famous Royal Albert Hall in London, La Salle Des Congress in Paris, The Viener Konzerthause in Vienna, The Tokyo International Forum, and the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles just to name a few. 

Most recently, Susan has created an artist coaching platform specifically created for singer/ songwriters.  Susan’s coaching curriculum addresses the often-unaddressed challenges and unique skills required to become a successful recording artist.  Vocal technique, songwriting/lyric techniques, vocal production, song / instrumental production, pre-production, artist imaging, artist specific marketing, and career development are just some of the  areas she addresses.   As much as she loves being an artist herself, equally close to her heart is the opportunity to inspire and mentor other artists as they navigate the endless avenues the music industry provides for success.  Her career radiates this reality – that truly we never know where our talents might take us.  A seasoned recording session musician, songwriter, music producer, touring musician, video game star, Singer songwriter, and top 40 songwriter, Susan has literally done it all.  Her diverse career and deep well of experience make her an invaluable asset to the music education community.
